  • Elizabeth Oldfield, Soul Work for the End of the World

The reconcilably bittersweet nature of adulthood was suddenly too much. I am purportedly a grown-up, but I don’t know the answers. I feel bone-weary from carrying around heavy things. I hate that monsters exist, and that they often win, and that some of them live in me.

  • Shift Register Sequencer

    Status: Built

My shift register sequencer is a clone of Music Thing Modular’s Turing Machine. It plays random sequences based on shifting binary values, but can be looped once you find one that you want to stick with.

  • Infill Housing Analysis Idea

Multi-unit infill housing is becoming very popular for developers in Calgary, but are the prices of the new individual units more or less affordable than the former residence which was bulldozed?

Idea: Analyze the pre-teardown sale price and post-construction sales prices to determine if infill housing is driving inflation of prices at a housing-unit level.

  • Lorenz Attractors

    Status: Built

The lorenz attractors are a dual version of Sloth Chaos by Nonlinear Circuits. Each board has two chaotic low frequency oscillators each with two outputs.  The outputs are loosely related, they tend to go high or low together, but to different extents.

  • Quantizer

    Status: Built

My quantizer is based on an Arduino Nano, which reads four input voltages and quantizes them into four outputs based on 12 root pitches and 12 different musical modes.

  • Sample and Hold, Noise, and Slew Limiter

    Status: Built

My sample and hold and slew limiter is based on Moritz Kleins design for an analog sample and hold circuit, however I made a couple of tweaks to the design.

  • Joystick Controller

    Status: Unbuilt

Looking at joysticks online, I thought it would be fun to use a joystick to create a 2 axis controller. The two axes could be used to either pan between +5V and -5V as a CV source, or pan between two inputs allowing it to be used as an audio mixer. Two switches, one for the X axis and Y axis would allow toggling between the CV or mixer modes.

  • Thoughts on AI Agents

There’s talk of having AI agents which are trained on one’s own work to assist with tasks. The interesting question is who would have ownership and control of these models, the worker or the employer. Imagine a world where your current and former employers maintain models of you in perpetuity after you leave positions, and continue to use them to complete tasks.
