Winnipeg Trails
An interactive map and index of trails in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
A counterpart to my page on Manitoba Hiking Trails, this page focuses on the trails closer to home, in Winnipeg.
The Winnipeg Parkway System
The Winnipeg Parkway System appears to have been started by Glen Murray's council as a comprehensive set of trails, bordering both sides of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, throughout Winnipeg. The Winnipeg Parkway system was apparently thrown under the bus by Sam Katz's council who, in a bit of irony, also threw the Bus Rapid Transit system under the bus.
Currently you can't find any information on this trail system on the city's website, the signs at trail heads are covered in graffiti, and some of the trails themselves have been abandoned. So to remedy this lack of knowledge, here are maps and pictures of the Winnipeg Parkway System.
These routes are a strange combination of trails, quiet residential roads and busy thoroughfares. The trails are excellent for walking, running and cycling, and I have adjusted the maps shown here to exclude areas of trail which are no longer passable.
Other Trails
Trails which don't fall into a larger category, or will be categorized at a later date.
