The Wedding of Heidi and Jon
Tue, 06/30/2009 - 09:39 — Sean Carney
On Saturday I was fortunate to witness the reception of Jon and Heidi Kornelsen. I had to miss the wedding to enhance my knowledge of auditing, but I consider myself lucky that I was able to enjoy part of the day. I had an excellent time at the reception and it really lifted my spirits. The food and entertainment were excellent and I have to compliment Heidi and Jon's taste in music. There were just enough people present to do a proper dancing of the Time Warp, and also enough confused onlookers to make the endeavor that much more fun. The reception took place at Providence College which was nice since there were lots of couches around so people who did not want to dance could talk and play games.
Heidi and Jon met each other at camp and they spent lots of time together as boys and girls leaders. Their 'organizing' and 'planning' sessions in the program room were the gossip of the spring staff. Although I have rather severe hindsight bias, while they were working together at camp you could see that they had a good relationship.
Heidi, Jon, you have my best wishes going forward. Enjoy your new life together to its fullest.

The Dangers Of Improper Venn Diagrams
Thu, 03/20/2008 - 08:42 — Sean CarneyHere is a Venn diagram from the Camp Nutimik fundraising banquet that has a few errors in it. Can you spot them?

Hint: I think it might be a good idea if the Communications Teams collaborated with the Fund Raising Team.

The Best Gift Exchange Gift Yet
Sun, 12/23/2007 - 18:12 — Sean CarneyLast Sunday was the Christmas Nutimik Staff get together. It was a evening of tobogganing, playing empires, and exchanging gifts. Everyone brought a gift and like all gift exchanges, the gifts were swapped around in a pseudo-random way and then people could steal certain gifts from others.
I brought out a copy of my 'Are You Old Man Nutimik?' game. It holds a special title for being one of the most shifty things that has come out of the camp office in the past year (other than myself or my coworkers). The game is like the game 'Mafia' except I have changed all the characters around to be more camp relevant - campers, counsellors, the nurse and Old Man Nutimik.
Other notable gifts were some slightly girlish socks, homemade toothpaste, Jon regifted the birthday present Emily and I got him, a recording of some talent show songs, a large A&W poster, and some several year old vennison jerky.
The one gift that surprised me was a T-shirt entitled 'Field Captain Kip', which was a archery shirt that Aaron had made of himself. This high quality shirt has a picture of Aaron on the front and a copy of the Nutimik archery rules printed on the back. It quickly became the envy of most people in the room. It got passed around a few times and ended up on me when everything was said and done. This shirt has been rumoured about for at least a year, so it is awesome to actually get one now that it exists.
The only thing that could improve this gift exchange would be a 'Sexy Men of Nutimik 2008 Calendar'. Oh well, maybe next year!

My Screen Saver
Fri, 10/26/2007 - 20:12 — Sean CarneyI really enjoy my screen saver, it is an excellent distraction. It is a slideshow that shows random pictures from a collection of nearly every digital picture I have ever taken. I sometimes find myself staring at it for minutes at a time enjoying the memories and pictures, and wondering "What was I thinking?" or "Where on earth was that?" or "Scandalous!".
Anyways, a few days ago my screen blanked and the screen saver started and my favourite picture from camp came up. It's kind of strange in a way - I have taken 30,000 pictures over the years, but one picture has always been my favourite. I could go into the reasons I like the picture, but they are largely sentimental so I won't bore you.
Here it is, Jessie's outpost from Thursday night of Intermediate 2 camp 2006.
